introduction

This project is funded by the Research Institutes of Sweden (RISE) and is developed in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

We have worked in partnership with RISE since 2016 on projects which focus on climate change and innovative, sustainable development, on an international platform.

the challenge

Develop a sophisticated web-platform using data on disruptive trends and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) transparently sourced by trend forecasters, GMOs, National agencies and other stakeholders.

The aim of the platform is to allow companies and other stakeholders to turn trend assessments into drivers for sustainable innovation.

our solution

The Trend Scanner database allows analysts to filter information to gain specific, relevant insights. Each trend is put in clear context of specific SDGs to inform action relating to these global targets. The scientific data on which trends are based is accessible and transparent, in many cases exposing the lack of transparent referencing of many data sources.

The Trend Scanner is Phase 1 of an exciting ongoing programme to deliver sustainable innovation. We are currently working on integrating artificial intelligence to trawl the web for data for the next phase of data gathering and analysis.

The platform is brought to life by a powerful filter allowing the user to filter all the modules by Sources (publisher, publication date), Trends, Predictions (prediction date, prediction category), Methodology and SDGs. This can show the user information they can’t see anywhere elsewhere, as this data has not previously been collected in one place.

client feedback

“I am delighted to recommend bwa, who we continue to work with to meet demanding project briefs. The bwa team consistently respond with professional ease and skilled solutions that engage and inspire our stakeholders. They always strive to exceed our brief, delivering integrated digital and print across a range of media platforms. Their design response is always well considered, sophisticated and effective.”

The visual identity represents the disruptive change in progress that is now required to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, each of which has a distinctive colour. The visual language supports the complex information as static graphics and animated infographics, to facilitate understanding, comparison and assessment.

Current modules include: The most popular trends, based on the top 10 trends with the most mentions in the analysed reports; SDG trend links; Scientific transparency of analysed reports and Predictions.

Colour and animated infographics are used to make this complex data clear, concise and accessible.

Printed and downloadable reports and support for key workshops and presentations at high-level political forums on sustainable development.
