We have been pioneering ethical design solutions for over 40 years.

Our experience is built on real time with real world issues.

We make a positive difference.

Webster Wickham, Creative Director and Partner

bwa was founded in 1972 and Webster Wickham has managed the company for over 25 years. Inspired by his interest in social and environmental issues and experience working with Greenpeace International, Webster has an ambitious vision that fuels all bwa client projects. 80% of our work is based on recommendation, which is built on Websters experience working with government agencies, international charities and ethical business.

After many years in Clerkenwell, London, Webster moved bwa to the literary hub of Hay-on-Wye in 2005, where he built an office that reflects his environmental principles. From the paper we choose to the suppliers we use; from food waste to electrical goods disposal; from energy consumption to community support: we work to these founding principles.

Catherine Barr, Communications Director and Partner

Catherine developed her strategic communications expertise working with a range of leading charities; as well as working with Body Shop founder Anita Roddick on campaign communications. She was a campaigner on endangered species and international forestry issues with Greenpeace International before becoming Editor at the Natural History Museum.

Catherine leads communication projects at bwa; and is our in-house writer and editor. She also writes children's non-fiction picture books including The Story of Life: a first book on evolution.

The bwa team

From websites, animations and integrated campaigns to annual reports, marketing materials and strategic communications, our in-house team of multi-disciplined designers and developers are rigorous about creativity, quality and our commitment to environmental principles.
